Our next meeting will be in September, date TBA. Nick and Anne Harper have been gracious enough to invite us to their lovely home for the meeting.
All British Car Day + European (ABCDE) was held on sunny Sunday, May 4th this year. The weather was beautiful which brought out some outstanding automobiles and (unofficial count) 300 cars. We had six Mets in attendance, and for some reason I didn't take any pictures of them.
Austin Mini Moke, driven from Celina, TX. Powered by the Mini's 948cc four. I spoke to the man and he said he lives in Celina and works in Grapevine and often drives it to work. He said it's not the size of the car, but the lack of sides. "It's a little frightening looking at yourself in the hubcaps of a passing eighteen-wheeler."
This car was so uncharacteristic of what you think a Lambo is: a supercar. This was basically a low-slung Hummer. The seats were so far apart and the interior was so spacious. But don't let the interior & front/rear air conditioning fool you - it is powered by a 3.9l V-12.
One of five Pebble Beach-quality Rolls Royces. This one a 1924 model from Monaco.
British cars made up most of the field with Austin, Austin Healey, Anglia, Bentley, Cortina, Humber, Jensen, Lotus, MG, Pantera, Triumph, TVR, numerous Minis & Morgans, Rolls Royce, a Thames delivery truck and the Mets. Only one French car, but it was doosey: 1972 Citroen SM. The Italians were well represented by Alpha, Fiat, Masarati & one Lambo. The German cars were more populous than years past with BMW, Opel, Mercedes, Porsche & VW. We even had two Smarts on the show field (and I don't mean someone got hurt twice). Only one Swedish car: a Saab air-cooled, but I didn't get a chance to see it's name or model
It was really an entertaining show and I would urge everyone to attend next year's event - and bring your Met!

Sweethearts & Orphans was practically rained out - we did have three Mets in attendance: Patty (from Arkansas), Harry Mannos and Gaines.
The red/white is Patty's. Harry had already left when this pic was taken. That's Gaines' yellow Met.
More pictures of Sweethearts & Orphans show.

On behalf of the Tex Mets I would like to welcome the newly-formed, central Texas Howdy Met club. I hope we can work together to make Texas a premiere state among MOCNA chapters.
